Vern just called me! It was so wonderful to hear his voice. He sounds a little tired, but not too tired. He is now in Mbale and will be staying with Morris & Aida Ogenga at their home. He has a little apartment there with a sitting room and bedroom. No air conditioning, but fans.
Last time he was there his Blackberry worked well for the internet, but the new phone has 4G and apparently that isn’t compatible with their systems.
It will probably be about 3 days before I can hear from him again, whether by phone or email – one reason being we have no idea what the international rates are, and don’t want to spend a ton of money unwittingly.
Everything seems quite calm for now – that’s a relief! Please do continue to pray for him and for the ministry he will be carrying out at the seminary (CBIT) and for the wedding to go smoothly on the 14 (our 13th, pretty much). Remember in some wedding ceremonies the question is asked “If anyone has reason that this man and woman should not be joined together, let him speak now or forever hold his peace.”? Well, they take that seriously and people are known to stand up and object! Pray that will not be so for Hassan and Juliet.
